American Ninja Warrior crowns Couples Champions
The Couples Championships edition of American Ninja Warrior aired this past Monday night. 10 couples battled it out relay-style on a the ninja warrior obstacle course. Each obstacle completed on the course was worth 1 point. Round 1 featured 6 obstacles, where the top 5 couples advanced to Round 2.
The top 2 couples who advanced after Round 2 were given the chance to race on the Power Tower for the $25,000 prize. The top 2 couples were Kyle Soderman and Megan Johnson from Austin, TX and Jesse “Flex” Labreck and Chris DiGangi from North Aurora, IL.
Labreck and DiGangi were the favorites to win the couples championship. For the Power Tower finale, the course included a 100-pound sled push on an uphill track, then The Switchback obstacle before heading into the Big Rope Swing. Then, the men faced Climb up the Column before going into the Cliffhanger before tagging their partners.
Soderman used his speed to create a lead on DiGangi. When the ladies were tagged in, Johnson used Soderman’s lead to her advantage in order to beat Labreck to the buzzer.
